District Competition: Final Round

General

Contestants will be allowed to code in Python, JavaScript, C++, Lua, or CoffeeScript. Please note that Python and JavaScript are strongly preferred. The other languages are still in beta version and may not be stable.

Rules and Regulations

District Competition – Final Round (Macau) (23 Apr 2022)

  • Contestants entering into District Competition – Final Round will be notified via email by 8 Apr 2022 (Fri). 
  • Contestants will be provided with access to Computer Science 1-3 on CodeCombat in order to prepare for the competition.
  • The competition will be held physically in Macau Pui Ching Middle School. 
  • Please note that contestants are required to bring their own electronic devices (laptop is highly recommended) to participate in the final round. 
  • The level of difficulty of the final round is close to that of the screening round, i.e. CodeCombat Computer Science 2. 
  • Contestants should use the same username and password they used in the screening round to access the final competition coding arena.
  • Contestants will be given 2.5-hr independent coding time. Top 8 contestants from each division will proceed to a knockout round after a 30-min break, during which live simulation of their code will be conducted.
  • Top 3 contestants from each division will be awarded Champion, 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up for the respective district competition. Please refer to “Awards & Prizes” for details.
  • Top contestants from each division will then proceed to the HK-MO-TW ICE Challenge Grand Final to be held physically in mid-May 2022. Exact number of final round places is subject to the total number of contestants per division.

Disqualification/ Penalty

A contestant may be disqualified from the competition or suffer a penalty if the contestant:

  • does not meet the eligibility for the school division
  • cheats, attempts to cheat or helps other to cheat
  • improperly obtains or attempts to obtain knowledge of the competition coding arena prior to the competition
  • has unauthorised physical or electronic article(s) within reach during the competition, whether or not the article(s) could be used for cheating
  • communicates or attempts to communicate with any persons during the competition in an attempt to gain unfair advantage
  • leaves their assigned seat without invigilator’s permission
  • tampers with the competition arena, other contestants’ work, system network and/or other systems
  • starts to read or work on the competition arena before being instructed to do so or continues to hold any stationery or work on the competition arena after being told to stop working at the end of the competition
  • disobeys the reasonable instructions of an invigilator

 

Serious offenders may be banned from all future ICE Challenge-related activities.
