General
Contestants will be allowed to code in Python, JavaScript, C++, Lua, or CoffeeScript. Please note that Python and JavaScript are strongly preferred. The other languages are still in beta version and may not be stable.
Rules and Regulations
HK-MO-TW ICE Challenge Grand Final (April-May)
- Eligible contestants will need to attend the online briefing session to be held on 16 Apr 2022 (Sat).
- All finalists will have access to CodeCombat CS1-4 for practice upon announcement of Grand Final finalists.
- The Grand Final will be divided into 2 parts:
- Part 1:
- Finalists will be given 1 week to compete for the Top 4 positions in respective regions and divisions. The competition arena will be opened on 25 Apr 2022 (Mon) 2:00pm (GMT+8) and closed on 2 May (Mon) 10:00pm (GMT+8).
- Contestants will need to enter the designated arena via email sent by the Competition Secretariat, design their code and play it against the other contestants.
- Part 2:
- Top 4 finalists from each region and each division will be invited to participate in the additional round to be held on 14 May (Sat) 8:30am – 2:30pm (GMT+8), during which they will be required to show their faces via Zoom throughout the competition.
- Contestants will be given 3.5-hour independent coding time followed by a knockout round. Winners of the Grand Final competition will be determined by the result of the live simulation, please refer to “Awards & Prizes” for details.
- Part 1:
- Note: Opponents for the knockout round will be drawn randomly on the screen, any appeal on selection of opponents will not be entertained.
- The level of difficulty of the Grand Final is close to CodeCombat Computer Science 4.
- Contestants should use the username and password provided by the Competition Secretariat on the day to access the Grand Final competition coding arena.
Disqualification/ Penalty
A contestant may be disqualified from the competition or suffer a penalty if the contestant:
- is found suspicious of copying other contestants’ work
- improperly obtains or attempts to obtain knowledge of the competition coding arena prior to the competition
- tampers with the competition arena, other contestants’ work, system network and/or other systems
Serious offenders may be banned from all future ICE Challenge-related activities.
